Hi! My name is Nikita and welcome to my little corner of the internet!
I created The Simply Serene Life in November 2024 during my career transition. I was a burned out physician working over 50 hours per week for close to 6 years at that point. This had taken a huge toll on my physical & mental health. I was constantly working, neglecting my health, neglecting my relationships, and was feeling anxious on a daily basis. I knew something had to change! In the fall of 2024, I decided to quit my job and take a few months off before starting back as a part-time physician in 2025.
During this transition period, I wanted to do something different and express my creative side. When I was a teenager, I used to love web design & personal blogging (I miss those Xanga days!) but I never really got the chance to pursue this during my medical training. I always wanted get back into writing & start a lifestyle blog and this career transition was the perfect opportunity to finally give it a shot!
Over the past several years, I’ve turned to seasonal living as a way to live intentionally. I love the joy & comfort that each season brings in its own unique way. Watching the cherry blossoms bloom while having a picnic in the spring, listening to the ocean waves on a beach in the summer, going apple picking while sipping hot cider in the fall, celebrating timeless holiday traditions with my family in the winter — I truly love each season for the magic it brings!
Oh and I also love food & home decor! You’ll find me at HomeGoods most weekends, buying things I definitely don’t need. I’m also that girl who gets excited when fall decor hits the shelves mid-summer and yes, usually I start planning for Christmas in July! Over the past few years, I’ve also been cooking meals inspired by holidays & seasonal produce & which allows me to experiment with wholesome, fresh ingredients & makes every meal feel a little bit more special.
In this blog, you will find my ideas & inspiration for seasonal home decor, easy seasonal recipes, seasonal living, & more. I also love dabbling with graphic design & creating seasonal bucket lists to help you make the most of each season!
I would also love to hear from you whether it’s feedback, constructive criticism, content suggestions, or just a simple hello – drop me a comment here!
