Winter is a time to slow down, be a homebody, & savor the cozy moments. Whether you love the cold weather or are just trying to make it through to spring, creating a winter bucket list is a great way to make the most of the chilly months. Here are some ideas to inspire your bucket list!
Winter Bucket List Ideas
1. Have a Cozy Night In
Have a cozy snow day at home with a holiday movie marathon, hot cocoa, crackling fireplace, and a snuggly blanket.
2. Watch the Snow Fall
There is just something so serene and calming about snow. I find that sitting by the window and watching the fresh snow fall with a hot mug of coffee in my hand is such a simple way to relax during the winter season.
3. Make Homemade Soup
Making your own soup at home is so easy and can be much healthier than the store-bought packaged soups. I started making my own soups last fall and I will never go back to the canned stuff! There are so many easy recipes for making soup on your stovetop or you can make it even simpler with an Instant Pot. Make a big batch and then freeze the leftovers into single-serve portions for lunch using soup cubes (these are life changing!)
4. Read a Book
Winter is the perfect time to start get back into reading or try a new genre if you’re already an avid reader. We’re stuck indoors anyway, so might as well escape into a good book!
5. Relax by the Fireplace
There is something magical about a warm, glowing, crackling fireplace especially when it’s freezing cold outside. If you live in an apartment and don’t have a fireplace – don’t fret! WoodWick candles provide the perfect fireside crackle and can make it feel like you’re at a bonfire. Plus, there are so many different scents to choose from and all of the ones I have tried provide a great throw!
6. Start a Journal
I’m a huge fan of writing down my goals and planning ahead. Pick a pretty journal and write your goals, aspirations, tasks, & big dates for the upcoming year. I also like to buy a planner at the beginning of each year to help make sure that I make the most of each month & season. The Bloom planners from Amazon are my favorite because they come in a variety of different styles & sizes, have so many pretty covers to choose from (both soft-cover & hard-cover), are very comprehensive, and they let you plan out your monthly, weekly, & daily goals!
7. Wear Cozy Clothes
I have an obsession with buying chunky scarves, hats, & gloves and winter is the perfect season to finally show them off! The isoToner gloves have been my favorite for many years because they’re durable, tech-friendly, super warm, fleece-lined, & affordable.
8. Wear Flannel PJ’s
Spending a day just wearing flannel PJ’s all day is an essential winter activity! The cozy soft material is perfect for a cold snowy day.
9. Drink a Hot Cup of Tea
Coffee and hot chocolate are great, but tea is one of my favorite winter indulgences. I tend to lose my voice for a few weeks every winter, so having tea in my cupboard at all times is a must. The Yogi throat comfort tea with a dash of honey is the best medicine ever for when I have laryngitis! It tastes great, is high quality, and really does help my voice recover faster than any other tea that I’ve tried.
10. Drink Hot Cocoa
This year, I’ve been a big fan of hot chocolate bombs – they are so easy and taste divine. If you have extra time, try making your own hot chocolate for a rich, decadent treat!
11. Playing in the Snow!
Channel your inner child & have a blast in the snow! I’m not the biggest fan of ice skating or sledding, but I love having a snowball fight, making snow angels, & building a snowman (or at least trying to!).
12. Bake Bread
A perfect snowy day activity! Baking bread is not only fun, but very rewarding as well. And of course, you could always try baking a banana bread or a pumpkin loaf if you need a little sweet treat. You can also try making fresh rolls or biscuits if you don’t have a Dutch oven for breadmaking.
13. Family Game Night
My family has started a new tradition this year – playing board games on Christmas day! Getting the family together and bonding over a game been so much fun. Our favorite place to get games is Five Below, but Amazon also has a good selection of affordable games.
14. Bake Sugar Cookies
Sugar cookies are so versatile – you can cut them into shapes, add sprinkles, decorate them with frosting, add fun designs, or heck even eat them plain! Making a cookie box as a gift for loved ones is also a thoughtful gesture. Another perfect snowy day activity!
15. Plan a Cozy Cabin Getaway
Although vacationing in the summer has its perks, having a winter weekend getaway can be just as exciting. The hotel prices are usually low, and you can even find a resort-style hotel for a great price. Some of my favorite winter getaways in the previous years have been at ski resorts, spa resorts, winter chalets, cozy cabins, mountain resorts.
16. Make Winter Crafts
Explore Pinterest and find a fun DIY craft to help you pass time on a cold snowy day. If you want something low-stress, try a paint-by-numbers kit — you can find so many different styles for an affordable price on Amazon!
17. Take a Bubble Bath
The ultimate winter relaxation – taking a hot bubble bath and turning your bathroom into an at-home spa. The bubble bars from LUSH smell amazing and can turn your bath water into a sparkly oasis. Lavender bubble baths are one of the most calming scents and smell great without being overpowering.
